My God-loving and God-fearing Christian brothers and sisters…
I see people and organizations being censored and silenced, I see people being hated on, I see people getting rid of their social media accounts because of the heart ache and frustrations of the shaming that’s being done to them.
God said, “I’ll be right there with you—with your mouth! I’ll be right there to teach you what to say.” Exodus 4:12
There’s a time and a place.
A time and a place to be silent, slow to speak, listen only, seek to understand and sit back and gather information.
Then there’s a time and a place to speak up, share truth, and challenge perspectives.
And you can’t be afraid…
Of the noisemakers….
The loud mouths…
The people who constantly get offended…
Who always think they’re right…
Who always want to argue and prove their point….
You have to stop stopping yourself from standing up for what’s right…when it’s necessary. Sometimes it’s not. It takes prayer and surrendering to decipher that.
Do it out of love.
With the right intentions.
Don’t provoke wrath.
Don’t even engage with someone who wants to attack you. You’ll never win an argument. Respond with humor if you have to.
Share when convicted and share when feeling led, and only to whom you feel called to speak the truth out of love with.
Don’t feel guilty when other believers say you’re not being Christian-like when you challenge the status quo.
Firm and assertive and confident can still be loving.
Your heart can still be at peace, and harmony, and humility when you take a stance.
There’s a way to do it.
Social media might not be the route.
Maybe it’s a personal conversation with friends or family.
Or maybe it’s at a staff meeting.
Maybe a letter to a higher authority figure.
Maybe even a silent, peaceful protest.
Moses felt weak too. He felt inadequate and tried to avoid God’s commands by saying he wasn’t gifted to speak on behalf of God.
God had a strategy.
“God got angry with Moses: “Don’t you have a brother, Aaron the Levite? He’s good with words, I know he is. He speaks very well. In fact, at this very moment he’s on his way to meet you. When he sees you he’s going to be glad. You’ll speak to him and tell him what to say. I’ll be right there with you as you speak and with him as he speaks, teaching you step by step. He will speak to the people for you. He’ll act as your mouth, but you’ll decide what comes out of it. Now take this staff in your hand; you’ll use it to do the signs.” Exodus 4:14-16
Maybe you don’t need to be the voice or share your opinion. Usually someone else has already pulled the research and compiled the information. Maybe you just share their voice and education.
We all have to pick and choose.
You don’t speak to the masses.
You speak for an Audience of One.
The people that need to see, hear, and feel it will receive it.
“Even if it’s a few.”
We don’t change people.
God does.
But when necessary, we have to do our part.
This country is crumbling and if the trends continue, the results will be devastating for our kids and the next generation.
It’s not about us. It’s about them.
Find your tribe.
Band together.
Strengthen your faith.
Pray.
Take action, even small steps.
And let God do the rest.
Who knows…
It just might be an absolute game-changer for you and everyone in your life.
