I’ve come across these popular posts more than a few times across social media. Unfortunately, some people I know who identify as Christians have posted them.

I’ll explain with one sentence why they’re not biblical, nor Christ-like.

*When people post these, yes, there’s no doubt you can question their biblical understanding and knowledge. There’s even reason to question if they’re truly regenerated (born-again). However, we must always start with forgiveness first. Some people are so stuck in deceit and we forgive them, “for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

I’ll post the post. Below each post I’ll post my one-line rebuttal. Perhaps this will help you help friends who may be entangled in the wrong perspectives, or in the least bit, help you think logically about biblical thought vs worldly thought, in case you ever get convicted to comment on one of these posts (I highly recommend obeying the Holy Spirit if you do)!

This person has obviously never read Matthew 7 about judging your own hypocritical heart first before making accusations about another, or John 13:35 about being known as Jesus’ disciples by the way we love one another, or Romans 3:23 about all of us sinning and falling short of the glory of God, or especially 1 John 2:9 about “Anyone [any Christian] who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.“

This person has obviously never read about the broad road leading to destruction (Matthew 7:13), and what happens when we trade truth for a lie and worship the creation rather than the Creator (Romans 1:24), nor do they realize that God‘s law is good for all of humanity, which is why the great commission calls us to impose His commandments on all nations (Matthew 28:19), nor do they know that Thomas Jefferson never put this phrase in the constitution, but rather in a letter he wrote to the Danbury Baptist church about keeping the state out of churches, not churches out of the state. This person obviously doesn’t know what it means to be truly born again (John 3:3), nor does he realize that no one comes to the father through people but except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6), nor does he realize you would never walk away from being a Christian, even in the face of true evil, if you truly encountered an abiding relationship with Jesus (2 Timothy 4:7-8), for if you did then that means you were never one of us. (1 John 2:19)
